Dr Kees (C.J.) Camphuysen

Introduction: Since the early 1970s involved with seabird migration (seawatching) and beached bird surveys. Since the mid-1980s at-sea surveys became part of the package (entire Atlantic Ocean, including Arctic, Antarctic, temperate and tropical waters). Currently involved with studies of foraging ecology and demography of large gulls (Herring Gull and Lesser Black-backed Gulls) which includes diet studies, colony studies, radio and GPS tracking since 2008. A long history of studies of the utilisation of fisheries discards by seabirds. Also studies on cetaceans, often in association with seabird studies, always based on understanding distribution patterns and ecological interactions. Currently senior researcher at Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research. Completed a PhD at Groningen University on the breeding biology, foraging ecology, and demography of Herring Gulls and Lesser Black-backed Gulls._x000D_ _x000D_ http://dissertations.ub.rug.nl/faculties/science/2013/c.j.camphuijsen/
