Following on from an ongoing pilot project on port-based outreach for longline fishing crews visiting South Africa, FAO is looking to employ a Port-based Outreach (PBO) Expert to design and implement a similar initiative in the port of Suva, Fiji. The aim is to help build awareness and capacity in the use of seabird bycatch mitigation measures amongst Chinese longline fishing crews operating in the Pacific, as well as gather information on the use of these measures.
