Dear seabird people,
Our colleague Bernard Cadiou would like you to consider signing this petition for keeping the NGO ‘Bretagne Vivante’ as co-manager of the Iroise National Nature Reserve (a reserve at the western tip of Brittany, France, which includes several key seabird sites).
The threat is that if ‘Bretagne Vivante’ cannot carry on being part of the management of the reserve, some of its long standing actions for the protection and study of nature in Brittany may be strongly weakened. This is notably the case regarding seabirds, notably regarding the long term monitoring program of European storm petrels started in the seventies.
This reminds me a little of what was happening a few months ago for Skomer.
For non-French speakers, sorry, the text of the petition is written in French to the current French Ministry of Ecology, Ségolène Royal. The process to sign the petition is nevertheless pretty straightforward: fill in the "Signez cette pétition" part on the following web site: http://tinyurl.com/petitioniroise (and once signed, I suggest you not to click on too many links…).
