What a great idea by Tony Diamond, using a paint-ball gun. My less-fun method regarding brown pelicans (the western and yellow-footed gulls do the same thing) has been a sling-shot with rocks found at the site. It works, but I agree with Tony, it's fun. I am going to try it myself next time I deal with the brown pelican. My problem has been that when we band, sometimes the gulls get the regurgitations that we want to document. To paint-ball gun. Any recommendations, Tony, on brand, etc.?
