3-D Gannet Movement PhD

Steve Votier, November 28, 2013

I have a PhD opportunity to work on 3-D movement of gannets that might be of interest to Seabirds.net subscribers.

The project will use a combination of GPS loggers, TDRs and altimeters to study how gannets exploit the marine environment in fine detail. This research will have relevance to the study of animal movement as we move from studying behaviour in 2-D to the more realistic, but challenging, realm of 3-D.

The most suitable candidate would have very strong analytical skills (preferably with a mathematics background) but should also be willing to get into the field.

Funding is limited to candidates from EU member states only.
