Dr Joanna Smith

TNC Canada, Canada

My work is focused on marine spatial planning and developing the appropriate analytical methods and decision-support tools to create multi-objective marine plans globally. I work at TNC Canada and am a member of the Global Oceans Team with The Nature Conservancy.

In the past, my seabird research focused on the foraging ecology and breeding biology of auks, petrels and albatrosses. I have studied the effect of bird-borne devices and nesting behaviour of Juan Fernandez petrels in Chile, ancient murrelets in Haida Gwaii, BC, and several other species in the North Pacific.
